This is 'Grateful Roy' , a new ram we added to our flock to bring in new bloodlines. Roy has shown himself to be a fairly mellow ram, a trait we appreciate given the weaponry he carries. He seems to have taken care of business quite well and is still hanging out with his harem of ewes without being a bully.We will be moving him to bachelor quarters soon though since lambing should commence the beginning of February.This is Sven , our Gotland ram. Alas, he is no more. Sven caused his own demise by breaking out of his paddock where he was cohabiting with 6 Finn and Gotland/ Finn ewes.Sven decided his own ewes were not enough and went after the rest of the ewes Roy was tending to. You can see (above) Roy had weaponry , Sven did not. End of Sven. I am hoping his ewes produce some very nice Gotland lambs, and that would be a wonderful tribute to Sven.This is 'Puddleduck Jonas'. Jonas is getting on in years now and has sired many of the ewes I have here, that is why we brought in a new ram. Jonas is a wonderful ram and many of the lambs he has sired are my ideal of the perfect Jacob Sheep. Jonas will be with us hopefully into his old age , hopefully quite a few years away.
Regarding my blog: I have had a terrible time being able to access my own blog, and an even worse time being able to reply to comments on previous blogposts. I am learning anew how to navigate blogger. Maybe in my old age I can keep learning . I am thankful to the many friends I made as I was regularly blogging, friends I have not met in person,but friends i keep in touch with. Friends who've prayed for me and mine, friends I've learned from, friends who've inspired me in so many good and encouraging ways they're unaware of.
